This postage stamp was issued on 30 May 2003 by North Korea (= Scott Catalogue # 4304). Many countries issue large numbers of different stamps intended to be purchased by collectors and not used on mail. Trucial States famously did this in the 1960s and 1970s, but other countries have since adopted the practice, including America. North Korea produces many stamps that are solely intended to be acquired by tourists and collectors. Because of this, they are not really postage stamps. However, some have attractive designs and colors.
This 12 won postage stamp is part of set depicting Ryangchon Temple in eastern North Korea. It's a Buddhist temple built in 753 A.D.
