The Basilica of St. Ambrose is the oldest major church in Milan. I captured this photo near sunset.
The facade is Romanesque from the 12th Century, though the church is much older. The first church was built by St. Ambrose in 379–386, and the church was renamed for him later. Saint Ambrose was a famous thinker, theologian, and Bishop of Milan. He is recognized as one of the four Latin Doctors of the Church.
Those who have seen Royce Hall and Powell Library at UCLA and can see how much those buildings have "borrowed" from Sant'Ambrogio.
