This is a 1st or 2nd Century Roman era fountain and bronze sculpture located in a large niche on the south wall of the the Pine Cone Courtyard (Cortile della Pigna).

The bronze pine cone is attributed to Publius Cincius Salvius. the tow bronze peacocks flanking it are copies of originals that were in Hadrian's Mausoleum (now the Castel Sant'Angelo).
