Piazza Navona as seen in the late afternoon. This has been a public open space for the people of Rome since the 15th Century. You can see in its shape that this was the arena of the 1st Century AD Stadium of Domitian.
The piazza has three fountains, including the Fontana del Moro at the southern end. At the centre of the square is a fountain with the Obelisk of Domitian; the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
