Trigger didn’t come from D200 though the experience with D200 did help to promote the idea.
Was hunting for replacement for EOS 7 then came across the 5D and made me wonder if I should buy same camera model again. It will be the first time I’m doing that. For me, EOS 7 is all I need for a film camera. I am satisfied with it and no point exploring other Canon EF film cameras. But buying another EOS 7 doesn’t make sense as the fault was due to a design and material fault. In other words, the same can happen again. So it might be better if I learn how to repair it or just let it go. Hence, 5D would be better choice if I were to get the same camera model again.
Anyway, not sure what’s going on with the 5D deal. I ordered the D700 after 5D.
Instead of asking why D700, the question was “why not?”. Unlike Canon, Nikon full frame cameras are not cheap. Some are still out of my budget despite the age. Saw some listings selling as parts with the familiar ERR message. So the legacy issue of unresolved error conditions still exist in the digital era of SLRs. Price for used D700 is somehow lower than its predecessor or successor. There should be a reason for that. Anyway, since I have already started using D200, why not go further with a full frame D700. As usual, reviews and online information show that it’s a good model to start with.
When the camera arrived, I wasn’t quite surprised by its size. D200 is still in good size. I started by trying to reset the settings as it’s in Japanese and copyright details of the previous owner. Tried a few shots with AF-D 20-35mm f2.8. Think more tests are required as I’m sure if the lens working fine or camera.
