Shot with its older cousin and my first Tamron lens, 90mm f2.8 macro on 7D. This lens is now my 2nd Tamron and 1st AF E mount lens.

Didn’t know Tamron is listed and that Sony owns 15% of it. Not sure if there’s any relation.

It's mentioned as a budget lens though I don't feel it. It's only slightly cheaper than my GF zoom lens which is released later. Neither it's small (ok, small for an AF zoom wide angle lens). It can't fit in my smallest camera pouch.

However, it has the focal range that I tend to shoot mostly with. It performs not best at both ends and probably from 30mm onwards (yet to confirm). It's f2.8 and is still cheaper than the Sony ones. It's like 5 lens packed into 1.

I know of the 28-200mm lens first. Saw it in some reviews. Then, when I am about to get the one-for-all lens, I saw the widest aperture at 50mm is f3.5. I move on to research other Tamron zooms. Found the 17-28mm range too small for me and 28-75mm not wide enough. 20-40mm is the smallest. They are all about the same price range in used market. None of these modern lens are cheap. My only hope is that the lens is able to resolve for higher resolution sensor so that there won’t be a need so fast to get another lens. I guess it should be enough for A7RII 42MP.

Not sure if I will be hooked on like the XF and Pentax Limited but this lens alone costs about 2 of those lens. I would prefer to pair this Sony setup with either the K1 or XE-3. I guess that's all for this bumper year. Let's wrap things up!
