Two Levitation Light delta kites by Into The Wind. I wasn't that sure about the behaviour of my spare delta, so I decided to check on how it behaved compared with my trusty old Levi Light during flight. As you can see both kites show identical flight characteristics. No need to worry and doubt any longer. All is fine. Case closed.

P.S. apologies for the unsteady footage. I had one reel in one hand and the camera in the other, lifting it above my head. Shaky as hell, but the intention was good.

My latest purchase, a kiwi Nighthawk in an all but stable 24 knots wind.

Lost it, found it. And recovered it 1 hour later.

The delta took a dive, the rig plummeted to frozen soil (luckily everything appeared to be OK with both rig and camera) and a tree on the fort's island caught the kiteline, refusing to give it back. No chance to get to this tree since the gates - 3 - were all locked. And the ice was still too thin. Pitty.

Tried for 10 minutes to free the line, to no avail. I gave some line to be sure the kite would fly over the canal and then I cut it. We saw the kite disappear about 800 meters to the west. I tried to recover it but didn't know how to get to the delta - it glided over the ice into a cane field which appeared to be part of an island. This island...

Back home I checked Google Earth and found out that only 50 metres from where I stopped my operation there was a bridge to this island. However, it was invisible at that moment. So I rushed back to the meadows, approaching it from the other side and ran through the fields since it was close to total darkness.

This 2nd attempt was successfull and saved me about € 50.
