Here it is: My first picture of 2012! This was actually taken in December of 2010. I haven't posted any pictures since Boxing Day because I've been busier than normal:
• I went out with some Zoo friends to the pub and then to a party on the 27th.
• I spent the 28th doing some last minute packing, and actually got probably 40% of all my packing done that evening.
• On the 29th, I moved to Oshawa! I rented a U-Haul and with the help of my mom, dad, brother and my buddy Rick, we moved all my crap from the two-bedroom apartment in Pickering to my one-bedroom apartment in Oshawa.
• On the 30th, my dad rented a U-Haul and I drove his truck up north to his new house, to move a rocking chair, armchair, couch, snowblower, washer and dryer...and this U-Haul didn't have a ramp! I'm thankful the one I rented the previous day had a ramp! We got it all moved in less than 10 minutes though, so it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
• On New Year's Eve, I went downtown to my buddy Kyle's place, with Skyler, Jen and those guys. It was a good time, and we went to Nathan Phillips Square for the countdown, which was a muddy, drunkest-friend-went-missing time, hahaha. He found his way back to the house, and I managed to score a bed, and I stopped drinking early enough to avoid a hangover, which was nice!
• On New Year's Day, I went to my mom's house for a big dinner with my aunt and uncle's family and my sister's boyfriend's family.
• I don't remember what I did on the 2nd, but it was probably a lot of arranging and organizing things.
• On the 3rd, I had my school orientation, on the coldest day of the season...I was there from probably 9:30 to 3:30.
• Yesterday was my first day of school in almost four years! I knew some of my classmates from the orientation, and we're getting to know each other pretty quickly, which I like. I haven't seen this sort of quick camaraderie in school before...maybe it's because we're all adults now, and we all want to be there.
• Today was my second day of class, and I took the bus this time. The first one sped by because it was full, so that ticked me off, but I left the house early enough to account for that, so I got the next one and it only took 12 minutes to get to school. That's a big change -- when I was going to university, it took me 45 minutes on a good day, and over 2 hours on a bad day, to take the GO bus to school. I don't like having to take the bus, but I do like the idea of saving money on gas and parking...and the bus pass is included in the tuition, which I had bitched about a few months ago because I was intent on being cool and driving my car to school...but whatever; taking the bus will give me more exercise than driving, so that's an advantage.
My second class was cancelled today, so I ended up home two hours early.
Also, I was thinking of doing a Summary of 2011 and posting it with one of my pictures, like I did last year with
this picture, but I was just too busy the past several weeks. Also, I was seriously ready for 2010 to be over. 2010 was shitty event after shitty event, conflict after conflict, injustice after injustice, with my good times at work and my trip to Nova Scotia being the only major things that made me happy. 2011 had a few bad moments, but overall it was a great year for me, so this time, I wasn't motivated to rant and fume about my experience of the preceding 12 months :D
Anyway, that's what I've been up to, and that's why I haven't been commenting on your pictures or posting my own. It looks like this program is going to be very intense...the profs have all said that the workload has been compared to that of a Master's degree...so I might not be on Flickr very much for the foreseeable future...I want to do better in this program...I did well in my later years of undergrad, but not well enough to get into grad school...so I'm going to try to devote a bigger portion of my day to studying this time around. Wish me luck!
