Alright, so this is perhaps not the most unique picture I've ever posted, but I like it, so here it is!
--------------
Today I went to work at the usual time...it took me over 2 hours to fall asleep last night, but I didn't feel any more tired than usual.
After I got home, I went for a short bike ride around the neighborhood. It's hard to ride your bike when you're wearing a hoodie and there's a water bottle in one pocket and your keys and cell phone in another...because every time you raise your leg to pedal, it feels like the bottle is going to fall out. I won't be doing that again! Gotta invest in one of those Camelbak things.
Anyway, I just made myself a chicken dinner, so I'mma eat that and then maybe watch some TV before bed.

As I look at this picture, and surf Wikipedia, I realize that most of the planes I've been on in my life, at least since I can remember, have been Airbuses. Very few Boeings. I've been on a Boeing 747 once; flying from Hawaii to Japan, but most of the planes I've been on have been in the Airbus A320 family. Do you pay attention to that stuff when you fly? What brand of plane have you flown in the most?

I've known this song for pretty much my whole life…and as a kid, I never liked it. It was played endlessly, along with Neil Young, the Barenaked Ladies, The B-52s, and Sinead O'Connor, on my childhood roadtrips across Newfoundland…I'd often try to drown it out by blasting my discman through headphones. But now I'm older. I've graduated from high school. I have a driver's license. I approached and surveyed 100 people for my honors thesis. I've graduated from university. I bought my own car. I play in a band. I've traveled to Europe and Japan. I've taken probably over 30,000 pictures in the past 7 years. I moved away from home. I've taken care of a parrot and dozens of other pets. I remember meeting my baby cousin in 1998, and I remember seeing my grandfather just before his death in 2003. And last month, I went to the funeral and burial of a friend only a few years older than myself. Now I have a different appreciation for the message in this song. Even though I'm still only 25 with no children of my own, the song really speaks to me now, and when I listen to it, I feel old enough to relate. Where I turned it off years ago, now it brings a tear to my eye.
What song am I talking about?
"The Circle Game", by Joni Mitchell.
Yesterday, a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful, when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
And the seasons, they go round and round
and the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return
We can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round in the circle game

In May of last year, my family went to Nova Scotia for my grandparents' 50th anniversary party. I plan to write more about it at a later date, because, well, I write my descriptions for people to see, but my views and comments have mostly been on a downward trend in the past 3 days...so I figure it's better to tell the story on a day where more people are sitting in the audience!

Here's my brother on the beach. We don't usually go there in May, which explains the way he's dressed.

I missed two opportunities for great pictures recently. On Thursday morning, I was driving to get some tools at work, and to my left I saw the valley lit up perfectly by the sun, all red and yellow with leaves, and dark clouds in the background. Yesterday evening, I was driving to pick up my brother from school, and the Scarborough skyline was backlit by this brilliant pink sky...I mean, I couldn't get out and take a picture because I was on the 401 at the time, but I could have gotten off the highway and pulled over...if I had my camera with me :( So I think I'm gonna have to start taking it with me more often!

This is one of those places that has been a part of my life since I was born. I've moved 4 times in my life on a permanent basis and twice on a temporary basis, but my grandparents' cottage has been a constant. It has certainly undergone some exterior transformations over the years...it used to have rounded log walls, and then flat wooden walls; the green siding came a few years ago.
It's funny because I inadvertently took a picture almost identical to this one when I was there in July of this year, haha. I guess I'll be posting that picture around...December of 2011.
Click the pic! It gives you a more realistic size ratio; like how it looks in real life when you're standing where I was standing.
