-"Sir?"
-"You got a war face? AAAAHHH! That's a war face! Now let me see your war face!"
-"Aaaaahhh!"
-"Bullshit, you didn't convince me, let me see your real war face!"
-"AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!"
-"You don't scare me; work on it!"

Well, I've got some good news! After looking for new apartments, online and in person, with mixed results, I found one! By that I mean "the landlord of this apartment has agreed to rent it to me". I'm pretty excited because it's not in a basement this time, and as you may have been able to figure out, I like natural light, so living in a basement the last 16 months has not been my ideal situation. Granted, my current apartment is as nice as basement apartments get, so I can't complain, but anyway...I should be moving in sometime between Christmas and New Year's Eve, so I've got some crap to throw out (as per last night's Facebook status), transportation to arrange...and hopefully get it all sorted out before school starts in a month!

I was reading an issue of Photo Life today, and in it there was an article about this guy who had gone to four different places on Earth and taken pictures of these awesome scenes...and it felt like reading that article and seeing the pictures might have been the push I need to get back into photography. Although I haven't taken a lot of pictures in the last seven months, thinking back over the last few years, I have taken some shots that I'm really proud of...and while the creative potential of my current location seems mostly used up, there's still a massive part of the world that I haven't been to yet. Including the places I've lived, I've been to seven countries, seven Canadian provinces (six that I remember), and eleven U.S. states...but there's still a lot left to see!

When I went to Ward's Island with Amanda in March of last year, we found this beached ship hull...certainly many other people have been on that ship, but I thought it was a cool find. We took some pictures on it, because the sun was shining nicely on it/us.
Today I went to the new volunteering group. It was more comfortable the second time around! But I need to get my car fixed before I go up there next week. It's squeaking again, and possibly leaking again, and I've spent a lot of money on it recently...so I need to get this stuff repaired and done with!

I took this picture yesterday afternoon and it was going to be my main picture of the day...but then I took the pic of the food, and thought it made more sense to post that one at the time.
This is a belt buckle that my dad got me at a fair in America somewhere. It's a really nice belt, but it takes a lot of muscle to detach the buckle from the leather. I guess it needs to be broken in!
I have to go downtown around 3:30...right now I'm listening to a recording of my band playing "Californication" from Monday night. It's funny because I used to play that song all the time when I was a teenager, on my own and with my old band, Cloud Machine. I hadn't made a new recording of that song in at least 8 years...and it made me feel like I was 16 again :D
The whole Californication album was a huge influence on me as a young musician in the early 2000s. I don't remember when I got it, but I've got recordings of me playing it with friends from roughly 2001. Come to think of it, I think a lot of people of my generation have an appreciation for the Chili Peppers. My first band, which evolved into Cloud Machine, loved that album, and when By The Way was released in 2002, we got into that album as well. Then when I joined Xephyr in 2004 after moving to Ontario, their drummer was big into them. When I formed Adam & Evil in February of 2008, we discovered that once again, the Chili Peppers were a band we had in common (although we've never focused on playing their songs). Anyway, listening to Californication takes me back to being a teenager, when I was building up my skills as a drummer and just learning guitar and bass...it was a great time in my life!
