I have a few better pictures of the row of bikes and the buildings in the background, but I wanted to include the clock tower on the right, as I walked by it several times while I was in Amsterdam but realize now that I don't have many good pics of it. So here it is!

It's hard to believe it's already been four years since I came back from Europe. Little did I know the first pandemic lockdown would begin only eight days after I got home!

A streetcar approaches an intersection with an Esso station on the right. I didn't realize they had Esso stations on the other side of the world, but upon doing a Wikipedia search, in turns out Esso's Canadian stations are subsidiaries of a subsidiary of ExxonMobil...so, not a Canadian-originated concept at all.

Based on Google Maps, I believe this building is part of the zoo, which extends much farther behind the building. It's a shame I didn't know that at the time, because having worked at a zoo during my 20s, I would have enjoyed exploring the zoo in Amsterdam. Oh well; another time I guess!

Looking west from the A'Dam Tower, you can see the Kamer van Koophandel (the Netherlands' Chamber of Commerce); a Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Rail) train; Squash City; and a row of similar-looking houses along Lijnbaansgracht (they're along a canal, which you can see when you tilt Google Maps using Globe View and holding the "control" key).
