I was commenting on one of www.flickr.com/photos/eridony/ 's photos today about old motels or other facilities that have been bypassed by bigger highway projects.
Here's one on Lakeshore Road in Mississauga, just past the border with Toronto/Etobicoke. Lakeshore Road (called Lake Shore Boulevard once it crosses into Toronto) is still a major road, but the QEW/Gardiner Expressway a few kilometers to the north allows drivers to drive across the southern portions of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) without any stoplights. I was going to use the term "much quicker", but that really depends on what time of day you're driving!

My mother-in-law asked me on Saturday when I flew my drone last. I hadn't flown it since September. In fact, I only flew it once in all of 2022. It's hard to fly it in the city because there are so many anti-fun laws, even though my drone is below the law in most cases due to its small size. But I decided to take it out on Sunday for a few wintery shots once it stopped snowing. I'm glad I did. My drone's camera is of lower quality than the ones you see panning around Instagram racking up thousands of likes, but I couldn't be bothered to take the piloting course and have to abide by real laws in order to fly a much more expensive drone.
In general, I put my eggs in many baskets, and therefore I never become the master of any one thing, but it also means that I never really get bored. And I'm satisfied with that. It's still amazing that the technology that allowed me to take this picture exists, when you think about it.
Edit, March 25, 2023: I've added a few notes to this photo. If they don't show up when you hover your mouse over them, reload the page and they should show up.

It's always a mental wrestling match when I'm deciding what to post and what not to post on Flickr. I've been on an on-again, off-again quest for views and comments for most of my time on Flickr. One half of me wants to keep it reserved for the highest-quality pics, while the other half wants to make my photostream a visual documentary of the places I've seen and the things I think are cool. Certainly it's more rewarding when a picture gets a lot of views and quality comments, but a lot of my favorite pics get little attention, and some pics I don't care much about get lots of attention.
But I just read something in a contact's photo description saying that his photostream is about him...so maybe it's my time to say "screw worrying about what'll be popular; just post what I like!"

I took this picture on a walk through the valley in the winter.
I'm low on words at the moment, so the picture will have to do the talking!
In other news, the pizza just arrived :)

Some people hate Toronto...maybe I'm biased since I didn't grow up here, but I think it looks good from certain angles.
