Founded in the 1940s, the place is a mini-museum, the last barber shop in the Centro Historico. Manuel Cordero Ortega, the owner, is in his 80s. His two barbers are in their 70s. Slipping into one of the century old barber chairs is like a trip back in time and proves Blanco’s point. Inside, the barbershop seems solidly rooted in the local culture. Outside, the tourist parade floats along unseeing; not a single head turns to notice the barberia. Two worlds, one hiding in plain sight.
