The castle is a residence rather than a defence construction. The oldest part of the castle dates back to the 13th century. The present form is due to the members of the Feiler family, who transformed it into a Renaissance castle between 1560 and 1570.

He was incredibly loud. I could hear him clicking over the waterfall behind him. I spotted him along the White Oak Trail in Shenandoah National Park.
