Four different versions of the HP-12C Platinum calculator. The Platinum 12C was a variant of the 'regular' 12C (the original 12C was released in 1981 and is still in production). The Platinum version was released in 2003, which introduced more programming registers and algebraic notation (12C's were all reverse polish notation - RPN). The Platinum models all have "RPN" and "ALG" options above the CHS and EEX keys - regular 12C's don't have this.
Pictured here are: top left - 12C Platinum 25th anniversary model (2006), top right, 12C Platinum (2003) all silver model, bottom left 12C Prestige only released in Brazil (2005), and bottom right 12C Platinum 'regular' version (2010).

The Hewlett Packard 12C has been in continuous production since 1981. Although it was originally designed with a design life of 2 years (in line with 'usual' production philosophy around that time), however demand has never relented for this product. It is one of the longest lasting consumer electronic devices ever produced. It is also the benchmark calculator for finance and business. You might even say that the HP12C pictured above is also a clone of the original made back in 1981 - it has a different processor, different construction, and is mass produced in China compared to the original, which was built in the USA.
The calculator is so successful in fact that many other manufacturers have copied the design to varying degrees.
Top row: Switzerland made DM-12CC, Victor V12.
Bottom Row: Current Chinese made HP12C (with fast ARM processor ~ 100x faster than original processor), Compucessory Financial Calculator (keyboard layout is different, but all the same keys are there)
