Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. There's nothing quite like the solitude you feel in the almost total pitch black on a clear night at a place like this. You can forget just how dark it is because our eyes can adjust to amazing darkness - then you wonder why you can't see anything but static in live-view on the camera and you realise that the only reason you can see anything at all is because of stars that aren't our own.
This is a magical place - I was hoping to see an Aurora Australis here, but there was only a hint of colour in the sky.

Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. Taken a few years ago on film with a Canon EOS camera.
I'm working on a great excuse to get back here with the family sometime this year.

An old gem of a photograph I took years ago with my old Canon EOS film camera. Somewhere on the way into Cradle Mountain.
