This is quite a rare shot. The Starways titles were replaced by British Eagle titles in Mar-64. Starways titles were also applied to sister-ship G-AMOE
British Eagle took over 'Starways of Liverpool' services from Liverpool on 01-Jan-64. However, initially they were unable to operate using the British Eagle name or flight prefix because the licences were held under the Starways name. So for three months, until the route licences were transferred, two Viscounts (leased from Channel Airways) operated in the British Eagle livery with Starways titles.
This aircraft was delivered to BEA British European Airways as G-AMOC in Jun-53. It was due to be sold to VASP (Brazil) as PP-SRK but the deal fell through and it was sold to Channel Airways in Dec-63.
The aircraft was leased to British Eagle International Airlines later that month and sub-leased to Starways (British Eagle (Liverpool) Ltd) on 31-Dec-63. The sub-lease reverted to British Eagle (Liverpool) Ltd on 01-Apr-64. The aircraft was returned to Channell Airways in Apr-65.
It was leased to Bahamas Airways as VP-BCH in Dec-65, returning to Channel Airways as G-AMOC in Mar-66. It was sold to Cambrian Airways in Jun-66 and was leased to BKS Air Transport in Jan-67 for two weeks.
The aircraft was wet-leased to Air France in Apr-67 and returned to Cambrian in Mar-68. It was retired at Cardiff, Wales, UK in Oct-70 and was broken up there in Oct-71.
