First flown with the Boeing test registration N5028Y, this aircraft was delivered to JAL Japan Airlines as JA8942 in Aug-98. In Apr-04 JAL was split into two companies, Domestic and International. JA8942 was transferred to Japan Airlines Domestic.
In Oct-06 the two companies were brought together again and all the 'Domestic' aircraft were transferred to Japan Airlines International.
In Apr-11 the 'International' was dropped and the airline was renamed Japan Airlines. The aircraft was removed from service by Japan Airlines in Mar-15 and ferried to San Bernardino, CA, USA in Apr-15 for storage. It was broken up there in Apr-16.
