From a high spot, we take a long view down an arm of the San Luis Reservoir, filled from a season of drought breaking rains.

The reservoir is a switching point, taking in water from further north and sending some of it to the San Francisco Bay Area and the bulk of it to the southern Central Valley (agriculture) and the Los Angeles area (people).

An abandoned road runs along the top of ridge beside a fence that marks the boundary of a wild life refuge. In the distance is a very full San Luis Reservoir.
