IC417 also known as SH2-234 or Cederblad 46, is an emission nebula in the Constellations of Auriga located in the Perseus arm of our galaxy. It is located about 7500 light years from Earth and is estimated to be about 100 light years across. As with many emission nebulas, IC417 is a star forming region and is populated with many stars and protostars in various stages of stellar evolution.

Also included in the field are:
- Phi Aurigae an orange giant star (mag 5.1) 400 light years away estimated to be 35 times bigger than our Sun.
- LBN 804 – Lynds’ Bright Nebula 804
- LDN 1526 – Lynds’ Dark Nebula 1526
