This is what record stores look like here in Chicago..well, atleast a really cool one, Permanent Records, which is actually located right around the block from me so is my closest. Liz and Lance who own the shop are super amazing nice people and they even have a cat Zaireeka (not pictured here unfortunately) who helps run the place smoothly. I should also mention that Lance and Liz are great experts on all kinds of music but have been especially helpful with finding great psychedelic albums. Zaireeka has been helpful with making sure no one burglarizes the place as she is a watch cat...well, not really but in my mind anyways.
I thought it might be neat for some of you to see what a record instore would look like in my city, seeing as how you post instores in yours..especially you Londoners.
Vivian Girls played an unplugged set for the instore yesterday, which was really interesting considering all of the distortion I am used to experiencing with their guitars and vocals. They didn't have drums or bass...just two guitars, a tambourine and their singing voices. It sort of felt like an indie rock campfire.
