The annual Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is a three-day spectacular ballooning event which is held in Ashton Court Park, Bristol, UK during August. If the weather conditions are right and the wind speed is below 10 knots, a mass ascent of up to 50 balloons may be seen each day at 6am and 6pm.
One of the best vantage points for the mass launch is on and around Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge and below the Camera Obscura. These areas were packed with spectators on Friday evening 11th August 2023 eagerly awaiting the balloons.
They were not disappointed! As the brisk breeze which had persisted all day began to drop, at around 19.20 the first balloons began to ascend. Soon there were more than 40 aircraft in the sky making a colorful sight as they drifted over Bristol City Centre and Clifton Downs.
