What an amazing experience to interact with these intelligent and fascinating animals!
I never thought I'd get a chance to interact with wolves in their natural environment like this, so cool!

Got the rare opportunity to interact closely with a group of wolves. We listened to a few hours of instructions on how to interact with them and then signed the release waiver in case we get eaten or mauled, lol. The first half of the day it was raining heavily and we were not sure if we would even go out at all as the instructor warned us about all the mud and rain but we did and the wolves loved it. When we first walked into the wolves area, one of the wolves playfully picked out one of the visitors and raced over and knocked him down. The guy started to panic at first until he could see the wolf was just playing. Later on another visitor had some kind of medical problem or panic attack and needed to be taken out asap. One thing you could notice right away is the wolves were excited to have visitors and our guide named Monty had an incredible relationship with the wolves.
Keeping a distance at first, I begin to notice that Ruedi in particular was really friendly, so much so that he really wore himself out running around and trying to play with visitors. Wotan was also very friendly but more reserved than Ruedi while Wolfgang was clearly the dominate wolf in the pack and the one to always be closely aware of as one guest would learn later. Here Ruedi is licking my face and after giving it a head rub, the wolf rolled over on his back and I gave him a belly rub as well, never thought I'd get to do that:) They are absolutely amazing animals. Very smart, gregarious and remarkably athletic.
They have a keen sense of awareness of everything around them and can quickly size up visitors.
It was an amazing experience to spend about 8 hours learning and interacting with the wolves.
