Majestic flight over our heads taken along the shore of the Susquehanna River in Maryland. The soft lighting really looks nice on this bald eagle.

Flying across the Susquehanna River, this eagle makes a dash for safety in the trees along the river's edge to have his feast on the fish he caught. I liked this capture with the lighting at hand and the fall foliage colors in the trees across the river.

This juvenile eagle snatched this fish from the Susquehanna River after an adult bald eagle grabbed it first, but then lost it several seconds later. The JV eagle flew around with the fish for several minutes evading other eagles, to ultimately end up on a tree along the shore of the river. This was about 30 feet away from where we were shooting the eagles along the shore, thus allowing for the close-up shots. The JV sat there for a good 15 minutes to make sure none of the others would come around before deciding to make a feast of this fish.

He got about half of the body eaten before he lost his grip and the fish fell back into the river below the tree, and preceded to sink immediately ... at that point the eagle looked devastated that his meal was now gone. He kept checking the branch where it had been under his talons, and then the river, back and forth several times. Best part for us here is that fish will become a dinner for a crab, which we will get to eat later on here in Maryland most likely!

This is another frame that I was able to get four of the eagles in the air combat mode flying over the Susquehanna River -- The Prize? -- a lonely piece of fish in the leader's talon.

Really like the lighting on the eagle and fish in this fly by capture. Water droplets are still falling from the fish and eagle from his catch made from the Susquehanna River.
