Wamboin, NSW, Australia. This boobook turned up the other night, our first boobook here for more than 2 years. It proceeded to do its beautiful "book-book" two-toned call and sounded pretty close, so of course I grabbed the camera and flash and set out to find it. What I wasn't expecting was it to be sitting in a tree rightt in front of our house, about 3 metres up, and totally undeterred by me and the flash. It then proceeded to go through the motions of coughing up a pellet. I took a few photos and then left it alone - it was still calling from the same spot several hours later. |
