The town of Rhyolite, Nevada was established in 1904 and quickly grew to a prosperous city of over 10,000. This train depot was constructed in 1906. But then the mines closed. The last train left in July, 1914 and the town died.

The train depot is one of the best preserved buildings. In 1937 it started to be used as a casino. Then it morphed into a museum and gift shop and remained open until the 1970's.

The BLM put a fence around it which keeps vandals and photographers away from the structure.

Happy Fence Friday!
