It is not uncommon for the trees on this mountainside to have a bend in the trunk. This comes from the tree being caught in snow slide in the winter which bends the tree. The tree has personal meaning for me as it is a spot where I have eaten lunch in the past with a hiking partner who is currently living in Japan.

Looking west while standing on top of Putrid Pete's Peak, this is the view. Rampart Ridge marches on with a knife edge and other mountains such as Webb Mountain, Mailbox Peak and Russian Butte appear in the distance.
