The First Covenant Church located at 400 East Pike Street in Seattle was founded in 1889 by Swedish immigrants. Services were held in Swedish until the 1930's when English began to be used. The current building was constructured in 1911. The sanctuary is topped by an octogonal dome. It is a lovely structure.

The church won a landmark US Supreme Court case in which they objected to the decision by the City of Seattle to place the building under Historic Preservation. Fortunately, the congregation continues to preserve the building even though the dome needs repair yet again.

The girls in the St. Lucia Procession at First Covenant Church carried single candles. They surrounded an older girl wearing a crown of candles.
