Karen was all smiles while hiking up the steep short-cut trail to the Granite Creek Trail. Moss covered the surfaces of the rocks and trees.

The short-cut trail to the Granite Creek Trail passed many old stumps with springboard notches still evident. Many years ago when the old growth forest was logged, loggers stuck boards in these notches and stood on the boards to use their long saws to bring the massive trees down.
