I visited a relative staying in the Camlin Hotel. This hotel was originally opened in 1926 as long term housing for elite residents. At 11 stories it towered above the city. Now, this lovely hotel is a dwarf among the enormous buildings in the city.

Derek Wu painted this 140 foot mural of a woman and buzzing bees on the side of the Villa Apartments at 1105 Pine Street in Seattle with the assistance of students from the Northwest School in June, 2012. The woman is the likeness of a local resident. According to a Capitol Hill blog Wu said, ""The wall is intended to depict the inward journey we go through during the rainy season that makes Seattle such a blooming ground for creative talent whether visual art, music, literature, or performance...." I had no idea the gray days to which Seattle is prone is the source of local creativity!

Plymouth Pillars Park contains four pillars from a Plymouth Congregational Church building built in 1912 and demolished in 1966. Another church building was constructed nearby. This church has been an active part of Seattle's history since it was founded in 1869.
