The town of Morton, WA was officially incorporated in 1913. In the 2010 census the population was 1,126 and almost 95% white. The town populace votes majority Republican but is slightly less Republican than the rest of Lewis County. The biggest event in Morton is the Logger Jubilee. The main activities of the Jubilee were the day after we visited much to our disappointment.

The artist who created this mural is Kathryn Evans. I was unable to learn much about her work.

The man took a break from setting up the field for the lawn mower races and talked with us. The facility does not allow people do bring in their own alcohol but they do sell beer. I don't remember the number of kegs this man told us they went through last year but it was an impressive number. I have never seen lawn mower races but it sounds like they are quite the party. Later we spoke with a man with a truck full lawnmowers. From his description of the event it sounded like a demolition derby. We left town before this festivity began!

This old truck was standing in the middle of a field ready to be used the following day for parking for the Loggers Jubilee.

I pushed my way through tall grass and brush to reach the cab of the abandoned yellow logging truck. Grass was growing through the cab and the seats looked very unpleasant.

This abandoned truck was used in logging at one time. The truck was parked in the tall grass near a mill in Morton, WA.
