A 450 acre poplar tree plantation is operated by the City of Chehalis as part of a water reclamation project.

While driving on a side road north of Highway 6 in Lewis County, we stumbled on what is left of the Walville Japanese Cemetery. We were looking for remnants of the once thriving timber town of Walville. All we found was a cemetery moldering in the moss and weeds.

The Walville Japanese Cemetery is near a side road north of Highway 6 in Lewis County. About 20 Japanese people were buried in this place; most died around 100 years ago. The former town of Walville was a thriving timber town at one time and had many Japanese residents.
