The screened laundry room must have been a pleasant place to do the wash, except during bitterly cold and windy winters.

I remember helping my grandmother do her laundry with a wringer machine. She preferred her old wringer over the new fangled washers which she believed did not get clothing clean enough or remove water sufficiently. Eventually convenience won her over.
