The gas pumps look like they'd like to be of service.

Happy Window Wednesday!

Set back from the main street running through town of Scipio, Utah was a large home. I bet this house has a lot of stories to tell.

Scipio was settled in 1859 by Mormon pioneers that sometimes practiced polygamy. There would be plenty of room in this house for a very large family.

On our first night at Capitol Reef National Park we took a wrong turn when we left our RV park which was about 15 miles away. By the time we figured out our mistake and turned around it was getting late. So we arrived in the park after sunset. But we still managed to get some landscape shots.

Happy Saturated Saturday!

The gorge was once the preferred route through the nearly impenetrable "reef" which traverses over 100 miles in the Utah desert. The fold in the earth's crust which created mountains and deep canyons was called a "reef" because it formed such a barrier to travel. The Capitol part comes from the shape of one of the major sandstone formations which is reminiscent of the US Capitol Building. The gorge varies in width between 10 and 50 feet and the walls are quite high sometimes several hundred feet high. You can get a sense of the immensity of this canyon when comparing the height of the walls to Wilbur in the distance.
