An ancient bristlecone pine skeleton lies broken on the crest of a ridge along White Mountain Road. These amazing trees are so resilient that even in death their stumps can survive for thousands of years. This one left geometric angles of wood in a split arcing 90 degrees to the ground.

A lone horse wanders around in the highlands of the White Mountains just off of White Mountain Road. The sky is so blue up here at 11,000 feet that even a yellow filter darkens the sky to near black here.
