After a pleasant hike to the summit of "Little Baldy" in Sequoia National Park, we were rewarded with a spectacularly red sunset as the sun descended through thin clouds in the San Joaquin Valley, which acted as a natural red-orange filter. There's no post-processing trickery here. This is almost straight out of the camera. Only two controls adjusted in Lightroom 4: Whites -5 to bring back a little around the Sun's edge and Blacks -15 to deepen the foreground blacks a bit.

An orange glowing view of Big Baldy's large granite dome as viewed from the summit of Little Baldy. These bald summits seem to be a few of the first big outcrops of the solid mass of Eastern Sierra granite to break through the forest canopy on the range's western slopes. Here a super hazy sunset gives depth as edges of granite poke through the haze.
