While walking along the boardwalk in the West Thumb Geyser Basin, I was suddenly surprised when this little guy hopped right out from under the boardwalk next to me and started munching on the grass. This little cottontail rabbit posed for just a moment before realizing there was a photographer a few feet away and then hopped right back under cover. I was glad to have my long lens on my other camera to quickly make this snap at 400mm. This shot was just as he turned his head towards me. I'm not sure if this is a desert or mountain cottontail.

In a mad scramble to put the 100-400mm lens on my camera, I was able to snap this quick shot of a coyote after it crossed the road ahead of my car.

While our boat was paused checking out the local seals, a group of pelicans approached and I soon noticed they would fly right over Arch Rock. I snapped a number of frames and this one was the one where they lined up from end to end of the rock. Right place at the right time!

A cormorant bird at El Matador State Beach stretches its wings prior to taking off from this rock as the last bit of the sun dips below the horizon.
