Story: I got this in for review on Cycle Tech Review because it’s waterproof, has a super long battery, and it’s got ANT. Unfortunately in the end even though I photographed it and wrote the review it’s not going to get published. Despite asking the PR person multiple times if maybe I should wait for something different to look at what happened was that by the time she finally got it to me they had released the next version. For the record my review was that the hardware was brilliant but in typical Sony fashion the software sucked and was a year behind on updates. I advised not to buy it and it was discontinued not long after I finished the article.
In terms of the photography I tried a bunch of stuff where I dunked it, it does indeed work just fine, but in the end that stuff ended up being a bit too much. The requisite shot of it dropping into water had already been done so I was looking for something slightly different. Simple won the day.
Lighting: Two lights on this one. It’s sitting on a piece of reflective black marble and behind it is a piece of white with a single einstein, standard reflector, on it. Then overhead there is an einstein in a beauty dish with the cover on the dish. The beauty dish is the fill light. There are also a variety of white bounce cards around the front. Everything is triggered by pocket wizards.

Story: I haven’t been on Flickr much lately and I was kind of thinking that maybe I should jump ship. I dropped back in though and browsing through the stream of people I follow it’s amazing as ever. Such beautiful imagry… and so I am posting again!
The challenge with these, of course, is that they are a mirror. Bringing the camera up to a slightly elevated position allowed me to dodge doing a straight on shot and dealing with the camera reflection but more importantly it gave me a vantage point where I can see all the smith logos. Then I wanted emphasize the round shape of these so I brought in an opposing element. Definitely one of my favorite recent images and if you care about using glasses like these I will just say here that they are brilliant!
Lighting: Just a single hard light from camera right and some bounce cards. everything is triggered with pocketwizards.
