Gulls fill the skies over the stern of the massive steam freighter "William G. Mather." This photo was taken on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie, (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) affectionately referred to here as America's NorthCoast.
Originally shot on B&W Kodak T-Max 100 using a Canon Rebel IIs, the negative was scanned to digital on a Nikon Coolscan IV.
This photo is a little more interesting when viewed LARGE.

I'd love to tell you I snuck up on this alert creature, but in fact, it was just rather tolerant of my presence. I think she likes Canon cameras.
Those magnificent ears tracked me around much better than the those lovely eyes!

Ice melting on Lake Erie - By the time the sun had fully set, the ice was really moving quickly in currents that were accelerated by the rapid thaw. See the blurring motion in the background ice?
Shortly after taking this photo, my instinct for self-preservation took over and I headed back toward the shore. I watched the ice I had been standing on, begin to break up just minutes later.
