this was my home from 1969 til 1975, age 2 through 8 -- an Eichler-designed house in Palo Alto, which seemed run-of-the-mill back then, now are apparently considered arty and cool. I like to drive past it now and then, as I did on my way have coffee with /busterken a few weeks ago.
when we lived here, it was painted dark brown with weird orange trim, and it stayed that way for a LONG time -- this is the first time I've seen it with the color scheme changed, it's now beige with white trim. and the trees are MUCH taller than when i was little.
this house turns up in my dreams a lot (hence the pale/light exposure) -- usually I'm an adult, knocking on the door & asking if the current occupants mind me looking around...

for some reason i woke up thinking about this cabin, called Ruby, the closest one in this photo, which we lived in for several summers at Gothic, before building our own family cabin -- it was basically a one-room house, with a sink by the door but no other plumbing -- pretty small for a family of four by today's standards! i only have vague memories of it, i was very young when we lived there...
the other cabins were called Lead King (where the Inouyes lived, that's their Bronco parked across the road), North Pole, and Avery -- all named after either mountains or mines in the area

after my parents divorced in 1977, Mom moved into the upstairs apartment in this house, and we lived there until 1982, when we moved to my soon-to-be-stepfather's house in menlo park.
it's painted a different color now (it used to be a sort of brick red), but it was nice to visit the house yesterday, I have such fond memories of it...
I seem to be making a bit of a collection of houses I once lived in...
