finally scanning some film from two weeks ago at Lands End, i apparently was having problems with my light meter, as the exposures were all over the place -- but the results are kind of cool, ridiculously dark and melodramatic... which kind of suit the mood of that windswept morning!

if you look at this in the large size, you can see a seagull flying in front of that black rock in the lower right...

i am SO astonishingly lucky to have a friend like nick:

a) he is simply an amazing person
b) he has a vast collection of cameras, and he's happy to take 'em out & show me how to use them -- including his large-format beastie used here
c) he patiently poses for a portrait while talking me through the various steps of actually using this thing
d) he develops the film himself, and sends me the scans to tinker with further
e) he makes the most incredible scones for breakfast
f) did i mention that he's amazing?
