my favorite little spot in Iceland...

...and I'm up in the Sierras at my mom's house for the holiday, and have only minimal internet access -- so i'll say happy holidays to all, now! (there may be instagram photos later, if we visit an area with better cell coverage)

preparation for windstorms: tie the trailer and the shed tightly to each other, and then anchor the whole thing to the ground with heavy straps.

I've spent a lot of this summer focusing on images -- taking a few, editing a lot, thinking about what role(s) photography plays in my life -- but this feels like it has come at the expense of my ability to get any writing done, as several unfinished projects... remain unfinished.

yet the creative-non-fiction elements of both photography and my academic work seem like they ought to be related -- tied together and mutually reliant, like these two. so, posting this image today, hoping to find the writing mojo again, supported rather than crowded out by thinking so much about images...
