I got this at a convention in Burbank five minutes from my house...this is the first take on the Trek communicator. I love the ham radio look of this thing--it's basically a bunch of circuits and vacuum tubes encased in a lucite block, three knobs glued on the top face (they don't move or turn) and the familiar gold "flip grid" that was retained in the later designs. A small screw prevents the grid from flipping all the way back although if you watch the "Cage" pilot episode with Jeffrey Hunter the grids do flip back all the way anyway.
