I've recently started shooting film again and this is from one of my first rolls that I had developed. I did also have the negatives scanned to digitalise them so that I could do some limited amount of processing on them. I cropped this from the original 3x2 aspect ratio and I desaturated it to make the blacks stand out a little more.
I'd like to extend my personal thanks to Nigel Sommerfeld, an excellent Australian photographer that works almost exclusively with film, for his patience and guidance and for answering all my newbie questions about film. His knowledge on the subject is astonishing and he always takes the time to explain the things that my small brain does not comprehend! If you don't know Nigel's work you will be positively delighted to see his photostream and I'd urge anyone who enjoys something a little different to check out his Xpan panoramic images. They are beautiful. His photostream is here:

I'm in the mood for adding to the English language tonight. We already have things like a 'murder' of crows, a 'rhumba' of rattlesnakes (I know, who knew?). Well tonight I propose a 'confusion' of buildings and to illustrate my new collective noun I give you this! Now how do I get in touch with those nice people that publish the Oxford English Dictionary I wonder...

So there I was with my wide angle lens mounted and ready to shoot down this what was an empty corridor, thinking what a great shot this would make. Literally as I was pressing the shutter this young lady rushed past me and managed to steal the glory of my composition. Ah well, I don't mind. It probably is an improvement on my original composition. At least she didn't bump my arm as she moved past!

This is a hotel on City Road, very near Moorfields Eye hospital where I recently had an appointment. Luckily I took this before my appointment because while getting looked at they put drops in my eyes that dilate the pupils. When I came out of the hospital afterwards the light was so bright it actually hurt. It took 45 minutes or so before I could actually function. Thankfully there was a coffee shop nearby where I could sit in a dark corner!
I love the sky in this!
