Exe Valley Way
This Grade II Listed horse trough dates to the 1800s with the water being supplied by a nearby water reservoir in Dark Lane. Photos of a project by local children are displayed around the village as a celebration of the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Thorverton, Devon.
An Old Fashioned Street. Most houses are listed buildings which date back to the 17th and 18th century and are connected to the Witney blanket trade.
Looking over from Beacon Hill, Bradninch.

Here is Britain's oldest manufacturing company established in 1570 in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. It has been in continuous business since then and famously made the bells for Big Ben and the Liberty Bell in the US. Jack the Ripper would have walked past these premises on his grisly endeavours. The lashing rain when I photographed this just added to the atmosphere of the place. It's free to have a wander around inside and you can book a tour of the foundry.
Note: The foundry closed in May 2017.
