The stunning beauty and technical skill that it takes to make fireworks that bloom in to stunning shapes such as smiley faces, cubes, flowers, butterflies, and even hearts such as this stunning red one over San Francisco during the 2012 New Year's Eve celebration is remarkable. With two perfect red blue bursts below it, it was a simple matter to arrive at the title. What else could you name this shot?

The much beloved song made famous by such classic singers as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennet just to name a few. This sleepy little city poised on the peninsula of the Golden Gate, often covered in soft fog from the Pacific, really lives up to its romantic reputation.

I have to admit, the romantic quality of this shot is somewhat lost when you're squeezed in alongside 12 other guys on a 2 ft precipice 70 feet above a sheer drop to the road below. Though I did have my wife on the 2 way radio to wish her a Happy New Year at the right moment as I snapped off the first shots of the fireworks show and she watched it from Treasure Island down below. I made it all up to her by spending the rest of the morning sitting in front of the glow of my computer screens reviewing the shots till 5AM before finally getting to bed. It's great that she's such an understanding girl. :-)

Best wishes for 2012!
