YT1 has been busy since April. It has now served four operators in four months, starting off in south London with Arriva route 312 until May before moving east for shorter trials on Tower Transit route 236 during the last week of June and CT Plus route W13 in July.

The Yutong E10 demonstrator entered service on route 46 today, ahead of the electrification of the service with new ADL-BYD E200EVs expected to enter service next month.

The bus comes with USB ports fixed to the walls of the bus - as opposed to behind the seats with the ADL-BYD electrics - and provides a noticeable increase in capacity for the busy city and northwest route.

BYD have been dominating the electric bus market with both integrals and chassis, but a new entry from Yutong could establish competition between the two Chinese manufacturers.

The rivalry is fittingly represented by a comparison trial which is underway at Metroline on route 603. YT1 has been in use through the Hampstead suburbs since yesterday, but Metroline are yet to introduce their new Alexander Dennis-BYD BEL-type into service.
