The wide range of styles at this year's Glover Prize Landscape Art Show was very evident. Here are some of the more eclectic.
1. Mark Payne (VIC) "The 'Great' Southern Migration"
Oil on Canvas
122 x 142 cms
A self-described "dreamscape referencing the Crater Lake/Cradle Mountain region."
2. Richard Allen (NSW) "A Cry from the Very Edge"
Acrylic and Indian ink on canvas
120 x 160 cms
This contemporary work features the endangered Tasmanian Devil in its Robbins Island sanctuary.
3. David Jones (TAS) "Kempton Sugarloaf"
Oil on board
57 x 61 cms
A view of the sheep farming region around the historic town of Kempton.
4. Susan Simonini "Summer Solstice (Swamp Road, Kindred)
Acrylic on board
80 x 80 cms
Stylishly celebrating the rural Tasmanian landscape.
5. Jason Cordero "The Resolution of an Absent Day"
Oil on linen
122 x 122 cms
This surrealistic landscape also references the Cradle Mountain region. The colours are completely over the top and remind me of the work of James Gleeson (1915-2008), Australia's greatest ever surrealist artist.
