The lighthouse sits on a prominent point in the Rocky Cape National Park in Tasmania Northwest. The views out over Bass Strait are well worth the effort to get here. This rugged coastline was forged millions of years ago with volcanic activity, and for thousands of years it was also home to indigenous people.
In the distance on this shot you can see The Nut (Munatrik) at Stanley some 25 kilometres away. If you double click enlarge you can make out two Bass Strait islands on the horizon. The first is Three Hummock Island, and then a long way away we can just see King Island (famous for its cheeses).
