Our original program did not consider a stop in Teheran because the recent news discouraged us. But after a quiet staying in Tabriz and the feeling of tranquility that I have since my entrance, we decided to spend two nights in the capital.
The traffic is congested like all the legends tell and I found out that Iranian drivers are champions in avoiding collisions since they are able to find their way even in impossible spaces between cars, but also because red signals and the normal rules of the street are interpreted in a very pragmatic way more than strictly respected even by pedestrians.
At the beginning we feel astonished in the middle of this confusion also because everybody is beeping at us, not for our limited ability to drive but for welcoming us in their city.
The atmosphere in Teheran is much more relaxed than in the news, but we meet very few tourists around. The sms start working again after two days of black out and we feel a little more connected to the world.
The carpets museum is interesting but the surprise is in the museum of modern art... there is just European and American modern art, no Iranian artist! What a pity!
At the end of our quick Teheran experience we can't miss the American embassy and the graffiti against the superpower, we take some quick photo with a lot adrenalin because we were worried that someone can see and... but maybe this is another prejudice that we have...
